Diana Benedetti

Diana Benedetti has worked professionally as a full time artist for over 25 years.   At the age of 11 years old she started attending Beaux Art School in Cartagena, Colombia.  She attended Georgia State University and Miami Dade College as a fine arts student.  Diana has taken Art History courses, which have sharpened her judgment and broaden her perspective to use childhood and life as a wife and mother, as a fountain of inspiration for creativity in her work.

Diana Benedetti uses nature, color and objects as tools to convey a message of hope, faith and love. She was born in Cartagena, Colombia and was raised in a religious family who taught her the concept, but not the essence of spirituality. As a child growing up in Colombia and as an adult when she moved to the U.S. in 1989, the nature of the human condition has intrigued her and has made her look within herself, finally discovering her devotion and mission in life. While painting, Diana expresses herself and communicates her thoughts. Through her talent she aspires to improve the world in which we live and somehow, make it a better place to live.

Her pieces are full of vibrant colors with textures that enrich their content. Her use of oils as a very noble medium is bold and filled with genuine originality. Its brightness and smooth consistency lets her manipulate the paint in many ways. Diana also loves the slow drying time and the durability of oils: With the appropriate technique, works in oil will last a lifetime.

“As a mature artist, I am exploring abstraction, not leaving behind realism and trompe l’oeil. I use symbols that express reality and fantasy, which come together to tell a story of human nature, of our perfection and imperfections. My mission is accomplished when my art influences the viewer.

My pieces are full of exciting colors with textures and subtle messages that enrich their content. I look at the nostalgia

of the past recognizing its importance, not thinking that it was always better, but using it as a reminder to improve our future. As an artist, I feel the obligation and mission of using my talent to improve the life of those who see my work, by transmitting a message of life, love and positivism.  Art should be a tool used to improve the world and not contribute with it to its downfall.

My artwork is a handbook of suggestions to celebrate humanity, and invite you to immerse in an ideal world full of happiness, positivism, spirituality, and love. They are pieces full of vibrant colors, textures and elements of everyday life, which are meant to stir emotions and thoughts. My work is a bit of naive and yet profound, with a touch of irony and humor. I don’t pretend to dictate the ultimate truth, but to insinuate ideas that may help improve the wellbeing of the viewer. My goal is to motivate and propose a purpose-driven life, to help make this world better. I like to dream, and dream big. Who can live without dreaming? Who can exist without meaning? As an artist, I want to tell a story and inspire. These are not mere decoration pieces, but works from the heart meant to make you reflect on your reality. I invite you to take a look and be surprised".
